Breakthrough Breast Cancer

Breakthrough Breast Cancer

The aim of the #RethinkCancer campaign is not just to educate young people about cancer itself but it also enables them to understand that it is possible for them to reduce their own risk of developing the disease in the future.
Leading healthy lives, being physically active and eating well is something that must be normalised amongst this generation as well as being aware of the signs and symptoms of the most common cancers.
Prevention is one of the most powerful weapons we have in the fight against breast, and many other types of cancer. If we can convey the importance of early detection and risk reduction in schools we are truly tackling the disease from the ground up.
Our hope is that one day we will be able to stop breast cancer for good and part of this mission is to pinpoint the root causes. That’s why we run the Breakthrough Generations Study, the world’s largest and most comprehensive study of its kind, following more than 113,000 women across the UK of different ages and from a range of backgrounds.
Through detailed analysis of the various lifestyle and environmental factors that might influence breast cancer risk we are confident that we can unravel some of the biggest questions about how to prevent the disease altogether.
We support the #RethinkCancer campaign to encourage young people’s understanding about breast cancer and the importance of healthy living in risk reduction.
